The idea for this project came to the surface one Sunday afternoon while I was watching documentaries on TV. As I came across a film about the habits of humpback whales, I was surprised by the magnitude and gracefulness of these fascinating animals.
This series of three illustrations, which I decided to call "Balenas", was developed through experimentation, in a winding process of going back and forth between paper and Photoshop, trying out various finishes and textures, and playing with the compositions of patterns illustrations and lettering.
